After succesfully completing my first road race in September 2025, I will be retiring my beautiful commuter bike from races. Don’t worry, she’ll pedal on, just not in the most demanding circumstances. In collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle Shop, I will be riding a Trek Madone SLR 7 AXS Gen 8.
Ode to My Bicycle
at first
she was a delight
as I gave my Boston coworkers a commuting fright.
-then-
a stable guide
as I built courage to come in close
drafting behind
out on those first long rides
I drained my stores
but steadily grew
all thanks to my commuter bike.
-then-
we went
over the Middlebury and App gaps
& I started to whine:
'how heavy she is,
soaking up each effort of mine'
as I pulled and pushed and stood to climb.
-now-
it's time
to make my commuter the commuter
and find a shiny racer for the drive.
